RAINING POETRY

If you’re walking in Boston when it rains, make sure to look under your feet. 8.1. _____ It is part of an art project called Raining Poetry. A team of young artists installed the first poem for this year’s National Poetry Month in Boston. 8.2. _____ All of them were painted using a special spray, which cannot be seen on a dry, sunny day. But when raindrops start falling from the sky, the poems appear on the ground.

By now you can find the poems in many parts of the city. They were all chosen by Danielle Georges, a poet from Boston. 8.3. _____ The project’s organizers hope that these subjects will inspire people to go for walks in wet weather. So far, all of the poems are in English. 8.4. _____ They plan to start with Portuguese and Spanish, which are widely spoken in Boston.

Amelia Earhart wanted to become the first woman to fly around the world. On June 1, 1937, her plane 11.1. _____ off from Miami, Florida. Thirty-one days 11.2. _____, Amelia Earhart and her navigator had completed most of their journey. They reached a small island in the Pacific Ocean. Their next stop was planned on another island 2,500 miles away. But something went 11.3. _____ during the flight and they didn’t reach the island. Nobody ever heard from them again. Today, after over 80 years, we are still not sure what happened to them.
